21

Hmmm… 21 days without any post… 21 days where again so much crap happened that I fell I lost everything, really everything, even my “craftivity”. But eventually, last weekend I bumped on a how to video on youtube about these hats that transforms into shawls and the pattern was the most simple possible that there was no way I could fail. I’ve tried so many things last few weeks, nothing worked, I kept unraveling everything I was doing. So this was the quick win I needed to feel better.

I did the first one in about an hour using the Crazy sexy wool from Wool & the gang. I used the whole skein.

Successfully (finally!). I really like how it looks from close up:

So next day I did another one using some brown Wool ease thick and quick metallics from Lion Brand.

Here are a few pics with all the variations on how they can be worn as hats or shawls.

Meanwhile we just arrived yesterday in Copenhagen with Big Mama as both of us needs some fresh air from all the craps happening. Hopefully this will help. We’ll see…

Loved that picture with Alice’s rabbit in bottom right corner and the cat in top right corner… 😉

November WIPs and projects

Ouch… It’s already November! Time flew this month…

Here is the list for November:

– finish black jacket

– finish reupholstering the chair

– sew the curtains

– gift for my dad in law (yeah now he’s next)

I shrank it on purpose, since I want to start my new business this month, I need to be more realistic.

And let’s see what was completed this October:

– Peter’s black and red scarf

– one pair of socks

– hat for my mother in law, I gave her this one and she was super excited about it 🙂

– Lily’s bday bash diys:

– crochet lesson for some new wrist warmers:

 – one more hat, which I might give to my nephew:

– a headband for a friend:
– And a gift for my friend’s new baby. I didn’t do the rabbit in the end, but this:

Once a trainer, always a trainer

I think my friend over from kemiggies got this title spot on… She took these pictures yesterday with her daughter and me messing around at “training”…

And I did it again today with my friend Nome: I just taught someone for the first time how to crochet! In 2 hours she managed to finish her first wrist warmer! It wasn’t super easy as she wanted some black wool (Drops Cloud in black), so it’s much harder to crochet with than any other colorful wool. Really amazing what she accomplished in such a short time and with that difficulty! Proud of her 🙂

While she was at it, I started another one in Drops Cloud in bordeaux and finished both of them before going out tonight 🙂

I did them longer than the last ones I did in petrol color, but not too much neither so I had this much wool left this time!! Spot on!

Hopefully on Sunday we’re finishing the second black wrist warmer and I might be able to share some pictures of my succesful new student 🙂

Lily bday bash, party decoration

Yesterday was Lily’s first bday, so I gave a hand to Big Mama to decorate the flat and top it up with a few muffins. She did a good job with the ballons decorations, check it out, it’s beautiful. I forgot to take a picture of the big one she did as well.

I overused my cricut so bad that my mat cracked wide opened. I managed to fix it though, so it did finish the job, but I’ll need to get some replacement (Errhhh! Again some expensive shipping, custom fees and lengthy delivery!) but look at what it can cut! Crazy intricate!

I used it even for the drawings:

I did two banners, reusing the negative from the first one. I simply designed some rounds and got the letters cut inside.

Mama working on the color pick:

And getting excited about the bags:

She wanted some favors bags and tags. I used a template, just removed some pieces which were not needed and added the text on the banner. I got some help from a friend the day before to assemble these, and luckily as this took for eeevvveerr!

Big Mama bought some plushes, so we packed them in a way that their noses were popping out:
Some magical muffin wands with the home made muffins…

And finally a few photo booth props to add some fun 🙂

I made this card, still with the cricut. I doubled the birthday cut so it was really standing out (about six layers stacked on each others). I then tried my new stamp and did this enveloppe. I tried also my new Ranger markers. Quite liked the results 🙂

To a new era

I got laid off. In less than 24 hours my life changed. Tuesday afternoon my boss anounced me that that same evening I’ll have to pack and that Wednesday  will be my last day at the office. My position was merged with another one, so they no longer needed me after almost 10 years of work.

I was gonna take my team out next week to celebrate my 10 years in the company… I had barely any chance to say goodbye to people I worked with. No chance to do a handover to my team and to make sure they won’t be in trouble. It just came out of the blue. Seems a few people got laid off that day without any warning.

Luckily I had already discuss with my husband about future plans a few weeks before, and he was the one telling me I should leave the company. The idea was to save some money for the next 9-10 months and then start my own business. Well, I wasn’t able to save anything since that discussion only happen 2-3 weeks before the News.

So for now it’s a mess of paperwork and bureaucratie that I’m going through and it’s even more painful since I don’t speak fluent czech. I think I’m mainly upset for the short notice I was given because this didn’t allow me to prepare for anything, and mainly my health insurance. I have a doctor appointment today which was scheduled for almost 2 months already, now I’m not sure how this one is gonna go and I really need it. Errhhh enough of whining… It’s also very exciting to think that I will finally be able to work on something I love! I guess I’ll start with a website since it’s gonna be harder at the moment to find a shop to rent.

My last job was slowly killing me, even more since I had that old friend as my new boss for last 4 months who was just being a dick. Now it’s confirmed, he really doesn’t know what he is doing. The person who got my job is less qualified. Doesn’t know anything about knowledge management. After the announcement, my team was getting on a strike mood, most of them talking about leaving, stopping every projects they had, didn’t want to work for that new manager, told me she should have been the one fired since I also used to do her job in the past and not vice versa. They had a point. Except… she’s pregnant and will be on maternity leave soon. She’s already not coming to the office much because of morning sickness. Nothing makes sense in this company anymore. So it can only get better for me to get the hell out of there! Screw those managers who made that decision, I’m mainly sorry for my guys to leave them behind.

I also started to run more often. Maybe this is gonna help me to get back in shape! 🙂 I’m going back this afternoon. I’m surprised by the time now… Morning feels like there are 8 hours long! And afternoon like 1h! What the heck? Completely destabilizing…

Tonight we’re going for my farewell party. How awkward… Seeing all those people I trained and work with for last 10 years… Erhh….

So. To a new era! Let’s have some fun now! Let’s the creativity kick in! I’m gonna love being able to create much more, learn new things, learn how to run a business! So exciting! 🙂
